2.5 million foreign tourists to be brought to Nepal and create job opportunities to 898,000 by 2025

The government has set a target to bring in more than 2.5 million foreign tourists into the country in the upcoming five years.

Minister for Finance Dr Yubraj Khatiwada, while presenting economic survey for 2020/21 in a joint session of federal parliament today, opined to bring 2.5 million foreign tourists and create job opportunities to 898,000 in the country by 2025.

A mega campaign ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ was scheduled for this year but unfortunately was postponed due to sudden outbreak of deadly COVID-19 pandemic across the globe including in Nepal. He added that a master plan would be developed to promote the country in the global arena after preserving natural, cultural and human made heritages to attract more and more tourists.

He said Nepal is comparatively at benefit to attract more tourists due to her natural beauty and prosperity.

The record shows that over one million foreign tourist had visited Nepal in 2019.
