14.9 MW Hydropower Project of Panchthar Power Company Halted Due to Flood

The 14.9 MW run-of-river Hewa Khola-A Hydropower Project of Panchthar Power Company Limited (PPCL) has been damaged due to the flood.
The energy production has been put on hold due to damage to the Hewa Khola-A Hydropower Project's (14.9 MW) headworks, access road, switchyard, and powerhouse caused by the flood on Saturday night around 1:00 am.
The flooding occurred after the Hewakhola River in Sankhuwasabha, which was blocked due to a landslide at Chainpur Municipality- 4 and Panchkhapan Municipality-9, burst. The subsequent flood in the river has caused huge loss of lives and properties.
Similarly, projects constructed in Taplejung and Panchthar districts in Ingwa, Ewa, Kabeli, and Hewa river basins, including Iguwa Khola-10 MW, Iwa Khola-10 MW, Kabeli B-125 MW, Kabeli B-1 Cascade-10 MW, Hewa Khola-A-15 MW, Hewa Khola-5 MW, and Lower Hewa Khola-22 MW, have also been damaged by floods, as stated by IPPAN.
