107 hydropower projects in the verge of completion; Production capacity to reach 2,274 MW by the end of 2075/76

Studies show that 107 hydropower projects of 2,356 MW are being constructed in Nepal.
Most of the projects are supposed to be completed in the upcoming year. As per the report published by Nepal Electricity Authority, the dream project of Nepal i.e. Upper Tamakoshi will be completed within this year.
Likewise, the construction of first tunnel of 111MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower has also been completed. Along with it, 14.8 MW Upper Sanjen, 42.5 MW Sanjen are also on the verge of completion. Similarly, 14MW Kulekhani third and 60 MW Upper Trishuli 3A are the projects which are likely to be constructed within this fiscal year. As per the report of NEA, the combined capacity of Nepal will reach 2,274 MW at the end of the FY 2075/76.
The government has planned to increase Nepal’s production capacity to 3,000 MW within next 3 years and to 5,000 MW within the upcoming 5 years. And if the current status of the hydropower projects is seen, the goal of the government is likely to be reached. The government had promised to provide electricity to all the parts of the country within 5 years. For this, the government has already started taking the required steps.
Apart from these, 74 projects are awaiting financial management. The projects with a combined capacity of 1,658 MW are likely to start its construction process as soon as the financial management is done.
