Significant Rise in River Flow Poses Flash Flood Risk in Five Districts

According to the Flood Forecasting Division, the water levels in nine rivers across the country are expected to rise significantly today, raising concerns of potential flash floods.

The division anticipates a substantial increase in water flow in various tributaries of the Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali, Kankai, and other rivers. Notably, the Tamor, Triveni, Tamakoshi, Sunkoshi, Trishuli, Seti, Bheri, Mahakali, and Kankai rivers are expected to experience a notable surge. Meanwhile, the water levels in other rivers are projected to rise within normal limits.

The department has issued warnings about the risk of flash floods in several districts, including Ilam, Jhapa, Panchthar, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, and smaller rivers in their vicinity.

Moreover, there is a possibility of increased water flow in Taplejung, Okhaldhunga, Solukhumbu, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchok, Rasuwa, Gorkha, Lamjung, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Salyan, Rolpa, Rukum East, Rukum West, Doti, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Darchula, and smaller rivers in their vicinity, as indicated by the department.
