RSP President Rabi Lamichhane Meets Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today to discuss bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between Nepal and India.
Mr. Lamichhane is currently on a five-day official visit to India following an invitation from Nitin Nabin, the President of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The RSP leader arrived in the Indian capital on Monday.
Following their discussion, Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction with the meeting through his official social media accounts. The Indian Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Lamichhane's willingness to work closely for a prosperous future. He emphasized that Nepal remains a priority partner under India's "Neighbourhood First" policy and stated that India looks forward to working with Nepal's government to strengthen the multi-faceted relationship between the two nations.
The high-level talks covered a wide range of topics, including overall Nepal-India ties, the political relationship between the RSP and the BJP, and shared interests between the two neighbors.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides. Joining Prime Minister Modi were Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The Nepalese delegation included President Lamichhane, his spouse Nikita Paudel, RSP leaders Bipin Acharya and Deepak Bohara, alongside senior officials from the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.
This meeting follows a series of high-profile political engagements for the RSP leader. On Tuesday, Mr. Lamichhane also held separate talks with India’s Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar, and BJP President Nabin to discuss regional cooperation.
