MAXUS Nepal Provides NPR 8 Million in Disaster Relief

MAXUS Nepal, with support from SAIC MAXUS China and in coordination with Himalaya Organization, has provided relief support worth around NPR 8 million to communities affected by the recent disaster in Nepal.

Of the total, NPR 5 million has been contributed to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The cheque was handed over to the Finance Minister earlier this week.

A further NPR 3 million in relief support was provided to affected communities across the Trishuli River. The assistance included essential relief materials for around 400 people and the installation of solar-powered Ultra-Filtration water treatment systems at two temporary shelters in Nuwakot.

One system has been installed at Shree Bhairam Secondary School in Trishuli, where around 300 families are taking temporary shelter, while another has been installed at Trishuli Primary School in Bidur Municipality, serving a shelter with around 200 families. Each system can purify up to 1,000 litres of water per hour.

The relief package included mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, medicines, food and vegetables, cooking utensils, clothing, and other necessities

The distribution and installation work involved Himalaya Organization Chairman Dhruba Thapa, Managing Director Milan Thapa, employees of the organization, and Lions International District 325 J Nepal Chief Governor Ram Raja Thapa and other district officials.

The water systems are intended to serve families at the temporary shelters and continue supporting the respective schools and students after normal school operations resume.

MAXUS Nepal said the initiative was carried out under its corporate social responsibility programme.
