Mount Everest is facing a growing pollution crisis, and Nepal Life Insurance Company, in partnership with Round Table Nepal, has launched “Project Care,” an Everest Clean-Up Campaign.

The first phase successfully collected 5,000 kg of waste, with plans to manage an additional 25,000 kg.

Biodegradable waste is disposed of responsibly at base camp, while non-biodegradable waste, including plastics, climbing gear, and oxygen cylinders, is transported to Kathmandu for recycling through Khaalisisi, promoting a circular economy.

Supported by the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC), the campaign exemplifies effective corporate social responsibility, collaborative environmental action, and innovative logistical solutions.

The initiative demonstrates that strategic partnerships can tackle even the most challenging environmental problems while preserving Nepal’s natural heritage for future generations.
