Prime Minister Balendra Shah has decided to appoint Ganesh Parajuli as the new Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies. The decision was taken after consultations with Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). A formal recommendation letter for the appointment has already been sent to the Office of the President.
The President’s Office is preparing to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Parajuli after 5:00 PM today. Parajuli currently serves as the deputy leader of the parliamentary party for the Rastriya Swatantra Party and represents Kathmandu constituency number 7.
This cabinet change follows the resignation of the minister, Gauri Kumari Yadav, who stepped down today. Yadav faced intense criticism and pressure after making controversial remarks against industrialists during an ongoing gas shortage crisis.
