Prachanda Files Nomination from Rukum (East)-1, Pledges Development Priority

Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has filed his nomination for the election to the House of Representatives from Rukum (East) constituency-1.

The election for members of the House of Representatives is scheduled to be held on March 5. Dahal reached the Office of the Election Officer on Tuesday and formally registered his candidacy, according to election officials.

Speaking briefly to media persons after filing his nomination papers, Coordinator Dahal said he would give top priority to the overall development and construction of infrastructure in Rukum if elected. He emphasized that the district holds historic importance in Nepal’s political transformation.

“Rukum was a key base of the people’s war. I decided to file my candidacy from this area in this election. I will give first priority to Rukum’s development,” Dahal said.

He added that his focus would be on improving roads, education, health services, and employment opportunities to uplift the living standards of the local people. Dahal also expressed confidence that voters in Rukum would support his vision for sustainable development and inclusive growth.

With Dahal’s candidacy, Rukum (East)-1 has drawn national attention as a significant constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election. Election officials said the nomination process is continuing smoothly in line with the schedule set by the Election Commission.

The final list of candidates will be published after the completion of the nomination verification process, paving the way for formal election campaigning in the constituency.
