NRB Announces Rs. 25 Billion Liquidity Absorption for 16 Days

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has moved to withdraw Rs. 25 billion from the banking system for 16 days as part of its liquidity management strategy.

The central bank will raise the amount through an online auction, inviting bids from banks and financial institutions. The bidding process is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:00 pm, and NRB has stated that the deposited funds, along with interest, will be returned on January 9.

NRB also noted that a substantial volume of funds previously absorbed from the market remains outstanding. As of now, Rs. 665.35 billion collected through deposit collection instruments has not yet matured, while an additional Rs. 304 billion has been absorbed via the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF).
