No Shortage of Chemical Fertilizers in Madhesh Province
Farmers in Madhesh province have been assured that there will be no shortage of fertilizers this year. The Agricultural Inputs Company Limited, Madhesh Province Regional Office in Birgunj, Parsa, has confirmed that an adequate amount of fertilizer is currently in stock for the month of Asar, and more is expected to arrive soon. Chandra Prasad Chamlagain, the Head of the Provincial Office, stated that the warehouse currently holds 6,000 metric tons of urea and 3,000 metric tons of DAP.
As a result, there will be no fertilizer shortage during paddy cultivation this year, as additional fertilizer is scheduled to arrive in the first week of Saun. In the first ten months of the current fiscal year 2079/80, the Regional Office of the Agricultural Inputs Company in Birgunj Parsa has received 100,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizers.
Chamlagain further explained, "So far, we have received 170,000 metric tons of urea and DAP fertilizers, with 50,000 metric tons of fertilizers in the process of arrival and 40,000 metric tons of fertilizer awaiting approval."
The demand for chemical fertilizers is high during the main paddy cultivation seasons of Asar, Saun, and Bhadau. While the supply may not fully meet the demand, the current fiscal year 2079/80 has seen an increase in fertilizer arrivals compared to the previous year 2078/79.
