Nepal Welcomes 92,573 Foreign Tourists in January 2026

Nepal welcomed a total of 92,573 foreign tourists in January 2026, marking a significant growth in international arrivals at the start of the year.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), tourist arrivals in January this year increased by 15.7 percent compared to the same month in 2025, reflecting a positive recovery and growing interest in Nepal as a travel destination.

Indian tourists topped the list of visitors during the month. NTB data shows that 26,624 tourists arrived from India, the highest among all source markets. China emerged as the second-largest source, with 9,101 tourists visiting Nepal in January.

Similarly, 8,406 tourists arrived from the United States, while Australia contributed 4,957 visitors during the review period.

In terms of regional distribution, SAARC countries accounted for the largest share of arrivals, comprising 39.3 percent of the total visitors. This was followed by other Asian countries with 26.1 percent. Europe contributed 12.3 percent of the arrivals, America 10.8 percent, and Oceania 5.7 percent, according to NTB statistics.

The encouraging growth in tourist arrivals is expected to provide a boost to Nepal’s tourism industry and the broader economy in the months ahead.
