Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) will sell gold coins and silver medallions from its Minting Division at Babarmahal on the occasion of the Tihar festival 2083 BS.
The Currency Management Department’s Minting Division has issued a notice stating that the gold coins and silver medallions will be available for purchase on Kartik 19 and 20, 2083 BS.
According to the NRB, each individual will be allowed to purchase one 2.5-gram gold coin and up to two 10-gram silver medallions, one featuring Goddess Laxmi and the other featuring Lord Ganesh.
The products will be sold from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on both days, or until stocks last. Sales will be made to customers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Customers wishing to purchase the gold coins or silver medallions must be physically present and submit a copy of their Nepali citizenship certificate, National Identity Card, or another document containing the relevant identification number.
Payments can be made either in cash or through QR payment.
NRB stated that the prices of the gold coins and silver medallions will be determined daily at around 11:00 a.m. Therefore, sales will begin only after the prices have been fixed for the day.
The initiative is part of the central bank’s annual practice of making gold coins and silver medallions available to the public during Tihar, when Laxmi and Ganesh are traditionally worshipped for prosperity and good fortune.
