National PABSON Expresses Concern Over Two-Day Weekly Holiday and School Calendar Changes
The National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (National PABSON) has expressed serious concern over the government’s recent decision to implement a two-day weekly public holiday (Saturday and Sunday) and to begin the academic session from Baisakh 15.
The organization stated that the decision could add around 40 extra holidays annually, potentially disrupting the academic calendar and making it difficult to complete the prescribed curriculum on time. It also warned that the change may affect teaching quality and learning outcomes.
National PABSON further noted possible socio-economic impacts, particularly for families dependent on daily wages. It has instructed member schools to adjust academic schedules by maintaining at least 220 teaching days, rescheduling activities to weekends, and using ICT tools to ensure effective learning while complying with government directives.
