The meeting of the National Assembly (NA) has been postponed due to obstructions from the major opposition party, CPN (UML).

NA Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina had granted permission to parliamentarian Bimala Ghimire to express her views after UML lawmakers protested by standing up from their seats at the beginning of the meeting.

Parliamentarian Ghimire raised concerns about Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's recent statement at a public event, suggesting that an individual had gone to New Delhi, the capital city of India, to create favorable conditions for Dahal to become the Prime Minister.

She stated that the sovereign parliament has the provision to elect a people's representative as the Prime Minister of the country. The Head of Government making statements about an individual and a foreign country working to elect the Prime Minister goes against the constitution and sovereignty of the nation.

Ghimire clarified that regular business in the NA meeting could not proceed unless the Prime Minister resigns.

NA Chairperson Timilsina urged the protesting parliamentarians to resume the meeting, emphasizing that discussions on the Appropriation Bill were pending and time was running out to reach conclusions regarding the bill.

However, as the protesting parliamentarians continued their protest, Timilsina announced the postponement of the meeting.

Deliberations on the various sections of the Appropriation Bill have been rescheduled for July 9.

The concerned ministries will respond to parliamentary inquiries on July 10 and 11.

The next NA meeting will take place on July 9 at 11:31 am, as announced by the NA Chairperson.
