Ms Anupama Khunjeli has finally taken charge of Mega Bank Limited. The bank was running without a Chief Executive Officer after the end of tenure of Mr Anil Shah.

Ms Khunjeli’s appointment as the CEO of Mega Bank makes her the first lady CEO of any commercial bank of Nepal. She had been working as the acting CEO of the bank after the completion of Mr. Anil Keshari Shah's tenure in the bank.

Ms. Khunjeli had completed her schooling from St. Mary's school and then she moved to India for her higher secondary level studies. She, then, joined Shankar Dev Campus for Bachelors and Masters degree.

After the completion of her studies, she joined Standard Chartered Nepal. Her carrer at banking started from there and she spent 13 years gathering experience. The second phase of her career started at Nabil Bank, where joined as the Senior Manager. Under the mentorship of Mr. Keshari, she spent 6 years at Nabil Bank proving herself as a valuable entity of the firm.

Then she joined Mega Bank as the Deputy General Manager of the firm. After the completion of Mr. Keshari's tenure she performed as the acting CEO of Mega Bank.

Finally, on the Board Meeting of Mega Bank held on Chaitra 29, 2074 she was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank for a tenure of 4 years.

Being the first female CEO in the history of Nepali Commercial Banks, she has a lot of eyes on her. Many are looking up to her as a role model, others skeptical if she can fulfil the rigorous demands of the position. Nonetheless, there's always a first time for everything. To be a pioneer has a lot of risks but equally greater returns.
