MetLife settles 51 death claims; insurance payout until May 25 at Rs 1,09,06,750

MetLife Nepal has settled 51 death claims resulting from the recent earthquake until May 25. So far, the life insurance company has received a total of 100 life insurance claims – 50 directly and 50 through MetLife’s microfinance partners, the company said in a press statement.
As per the press release, the settlement amount for those who perished in the deadly earthquake has reached Rs 10,906,750 as of May 25.
As per the company, it was the first life insurance company to settle request for claim from the family of an earthquake victims. The first death claim settlement cheque was handed over by the Chairman of
Insurance Board, Fatta Bahadur KC, to the beneficiary on April 28, just three days after the earthquake.
Within just two days of the first earthquake, the company opened a helpdesk at its Head Office in Pulchowk so that policy holders could promptly submit their claims.
Many claims are being settled within 24 hours following a simplified settlement method, with agents helping the clients in the process.

MetLife Nepal has donated an amount of Rs 500,000 to the Prime Ministers’ Disaster Relief Fund to help the earthquake victims. It was donated through Beema Samiti. In addition to this, MetLife Foundation contributed to International Medical Corps’ Nepal Earthquake Fund to provide vital relief supplies and lifesaving healthcare services and training.
