Mechi Customs Office Collects Rs 17.67 Billion Revenue in FY 2082/83

The Mechi Customs Office in Jhapa collected Rs 17.67 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year 2082/83 BS, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.

The customs office collected Rs 1.74 billion more in revenue than in FY 2081/82, when its collection stood at Rs 15.93 billion.

Despite the growth in revenue collection, the office fell short of its annual target. The government had set a revenue collection target of Rs 18.87 billion for the office in FY 2082/83. The office achieved around 93% of its target, according to the Mechi Customs Office.

Major goods imported through the Mechi Customs point include petroleum products, garments, chemical substances and industrial materials.

Meanwhile, key exports from eastern Nepal through the customs point include agricultural products such as tea, ginger and broom grass.
