ICAN Holds 8th Convocation, 141 Chartered Accountants Graduate in Kathmandu
The 8th convocation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) was held on Friday in Kathmandu, where 141 new Chartered Accountants were formally inducted. Comptroller General Toyam Raya was the chief guest, and Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha, Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission, attended as the special guest.
During the ceremony, Raya presented certificates to the newly qualified accountants and urged them to contribute to nation-building through good governance, ethical professional conduct, and collaboration with government, regulators, and stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of ethics, independence, and prudence in decision-making, regardless of technological changes.
Dr. Shrestha noted that despite some pressure on government finances, the overall financial sector and inflation remain stable, requiring no major concern. ICAN President CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar welcomed the new accountants and highlighted the institute’s recent initiatives, including joining CA Worldwide, launching the Global Accounting Initiative in Nepal (GAIN), conducting the first campus placement program, and signing an MoU with YGC.
The event also recognized winners of ICAN’s quiz and public speaking competitions with medals and prizes, adding a celebratory note to the convocation.
