Govt Bans Bridge & Entrance Prep up to +2
The Nepal government has officially banned all bridge courses and entrance preparation classes for students up to the +2 level. This move, led by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, aims to stop the growing commercialization of the education sector. Officials stated that these extra classes often place an immense financial burden on parents and create unnecessary mental pressure for students during their break periods. By removing the need for specialized coaching, the government hopes to create a more level playing field where admissions are based on a student’s school records rather than their ability to pay for extra training.
Under this new directive, both private coaching centers and schools are strictly prohibited from offering these programs starting from the new academic session in April 2026 (Baisakh 1). The Ministry has instructed local authorities and District Administration Offices to monitor educational hubs closely and take legal action against any institution that continues to run these courses. This policy shift is intended to simplify the transition between grades and ensure that the education system remains focused on classroom learning rather than expensive, short term preparation centers.
