Gallery: Muslim Community Commemorates Bakrid (Eid-al-Adha) in Nepal
Today, the Muslim community in Nepal is immersed in celebration of Bakrid (Eid-al-Adha).
During Bakrid, Muslims gather for special morning prayers at mosques, community centers, and open spaces. These prayers are followed by the ritual sacrifice of an animal, typically a goat or sheep, symbolizing Ibrahim's ultimate act of devotion. The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one for the family, one for relatives and friends, and one for the needy and less fortunate members of the community.
