KATHMANDU:

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rotary International to rebuild primary-level government schools in the 14 earthquake affected districts.

As per the agreement signed between FNCCI and Rotary International, these school buildings will be built with ‘low cost but appropriate technology’. All the engineering design details and costing proposals will be prepared by both the parties and finalised in line with policies and guidelines of Nepal government.

FNCCI, in this regard, will arrange the funds and contribute through civil works as well for rebuilding the damaged schools. Rotary International will fund for drinking water supply to the schools, gender-friendly toilets, sanitation, compound walls and required furniture.

Both parties will raise the fund, which will be deposited in a separate bank account to construct schools from their networks to accomplish the project. Both parties will sign a detailed agreement if required before the project commences. FNCCI has extended the responsibility of school reconstruction to its past president Kush Kumar Joshi.

FNCCI’s Acting President Pashupati Murarka and Rotary International District-3292 Governor Rabindra Piya signed the MoU today, on behalf of their respective organisations.
