Finance Minister Wagle Begins Discussions with Ministries on Budget Implementation for FY 2083/84

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has initiated discussions with key government ministries to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the budget for the current fiscal year 2083/84 BS.

The Ministry of Finance began a high-level meeting with secretaries of major budget-executing ministries on Monday, with Minister Wagle chairing the discussion. The meeting is focused on improving budget execution, ensuring better coordination among ministries, and addressing challenges that could affect implementation.

The meeting was attended by National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Dr. Gunakar Bhatta and Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, along with secretaries from ministries responsible for a significant share of budget implementation, including Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Agriculture and Livestock Development, Health and Population, and Education.

Senior officials from other key ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Labour, Employment and Social Security, Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Home Affairs, and Defence, also participated in the discussion.

During the meeting, ministry secretaries presented updates on their sectoral priorities, ongoing projects, and preparations for implementing budget programmes. The discussions aim to identify bottlenecks and develop strategies for faster and more effective execution.

Minister Wagle has stressed that successful budget implementation depends not only on resource allocation but also on timely execution and tangible outcomes. He has called for stronger coordination among government agencies to ensure that budget programmes deliver visible results.

The Ministry of Finance said the consultation process will help refine implementation strategies, with recommendations from the meetings being used to strengthen the execution of the current fiscal year's budget.
