An arrest warrant has been issued against former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba, in connection with an investigation into illegal property acquisition.

The Department of Money Laundering Investigation obtained the arrest warrant from the Kathmandu District Court as part of their investigation into property laundering. According to a high level source, while the court has granted permission for arrest, the couple has not been apprehended yet because they are currently outside Nepal. The Deuba couple is currently abroad.

This arrest warrant follows a series of intensified actions by the DMLI against prominent political figures, signaling a more aggressive stance by the government against financial irregularities. The investigation seeks to verify the sources of the couple's significant domestic and international holdings against their known income.
