KAVRE, JUL 12 -
A massive fire broke out at the factory of Himalayan Snax and Noodles Private Limited (HSNPL), the manufacturer of popular Mayos noodles, in Banepa, Kavre, on Monday.

Electric short circuit in the storehouse is suspected to be the reason behind the inferno.

Four fire brigade vehicles from Bhaktapur and Kathmandu, Nepal Police and Nepal Army personnel, local youths and factory staffers doused the fire after five hours of endeavour. All the raw materials stashed in the storehouse were engulfed in the morning blaze, said police. However, the actual loss of property is yet to be ascertained. No human casualties were reported. Police Inspector Santosh Tamang estimated the loss at around Rs 100 million.

Gautam Prasad Gautam, an HSNPL official, said raw materials and machinery parts in the storehouse were completely destroyed. He said the company also has its administrative department in the same building where the fire broke out.

DSP Surendra Prasad Mainali said they have started an investigation into the incident.

According to Rabindra Silwal, HSNPL Operation Department chief, important official documents and around 200 types of raw materials used in manufacturing cowmen were gutted in the fire.
