Zonta Club of Kathmandu Supports to Empower school Girls at Dhanusha; Donates Bicycles to promote female education and safety
Zonta Club of Kathmandu, an NGO that has been working towards women rights and empowerment, has taken initiative in collaboration with the Hemisphere Fashion and Teach For Nepal (TFN) to empower girls at Dhanusha by donating 50 bicycles. The 50 girls from 4 different schools of Dhanusha were selected by the TFN Fellows based on their economic background, who excel and are hard-working students. They have to walk 3-4 km daily to reach school and do not have means to commute nor can they afford one. Zonta Club of Kathmandu distributed bicycles for girls from class 5 to class 8 at the premises of Shree Janata Ma. Vi. School, Kajra, Ramaul.The schools receiving the bicycles are Shree Mithila Basic School – Kachuri, Shree Janata Ma.Vi School –KajraRamaul, Shree Ma . Vi School – Laliya and Shree Ja. Ra. Ma Vi school– Purandaha.

Through this initiative, Zn. SeemaGolchha, President of Zonta Club of Kathmandu shares,
“These cycles will help in giving continuation to girls’ education. They will not drop out from school due to distance. We would want to see every girl getting equal opportunity in education.”
Under the umbrella of Zonta International, the Zonta Club Kathmandu was established in 2012. It is a legally registered NGO in Kathmandu and has been working on the advancement of the status of women with the objective to improve the economic, education, health, and issues related to youth and violence against women at the national and local level through service and advocacy. Nepal is the 64th country to be officially chartered. Our Club is represented by 52 members from diverse backgrounds who are social activists, bankers, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, architects, business leaders and professionals. We implement our programs by conducting fundraising programs and through contributions from individuals and organizations.
