Yashoda Foods, the maker of Current Noodles, has installed an 865 kWp rooftop solar plant at its Chandrauta, Kapilvastu factory, marking Nepal’s first “Green Noodles” facility and the first industrial rooftop solar installation in the Kapilvastu corridor. The plant, operational from 23 November 2025, is expected to meet 80% of the factory’s power needs, reduce electricity costs by 65%, optimize unused rooftop space, and cut 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Built by Prime Renewables with financial support from NMB Bank and AEPC (under German assistance), the project uses advanced bifacial solar panels and AI-enabled inverters. Company and AEPC officials highlighted that this initiative will enhance sustainability, lower production costs, and inspire other Nepalese industries to adopt clean energy. Nepal’s industrial solar adoption is rapidly growing, complementing hydro power and supporting net-metering to the national grid.
