Winter Cold Drains Tourist Activity in Mustang
Tourist activity in Mustang has declined sharply with the onset of extreme winter cold, as sub-zero temperatures, strong winds and suspended flights have reduced visitor movement. Hotels in Jomsom and along major routes have largely emptied, while many residents of Upper Mustang have migrated to lower areas to escape the harsh conditions.
Although improved road access has kept limited tourism alive, overall arrivals have fallen compared to last year, particularly among domestic visitors. Authorities say a small number of tourists continue to visit the district even during the off-season, but winter has significantly dampened tourism across Mustang.
