WHO Ready to Support Nepal: Health Minister

Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta held a meeting with Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in Geneva, Switzerland, during the 79th World Health Assembly.

According to the Ministry’s Assistant Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, the meeting focused on health cooperation and support for Nepal. After the meeting, Minister Mehta said the discussion was positive and productive.

During the meeting, Dr Tedros said the WHO is ready to continue cooperation with Nepal and provide necessary support in the health sector.

Before meeting the WHO chief, Minister Mehta also held separate meetings with China’s National Health Commission Minister Lei Haichao and India’s Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda.

Minister Mehta is leading a three-member Nepali delegation to the 79th World Health Assembly, which is being held in Geneva from May 18 to 23.
