Weather Update: Monsoon Delayed in Reaching the Country, Chance of Rain in Several Provinces Today

Monsoon, which arrived in Nepal on Jestha 31, has yet to reach the entire country.
According to the Department of Water and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division, the monsoon is currently affecting the eastern part of the country, while local winds and westerly winds prevail in the rest of the country.
Today, partial to moderate showers are forecasted nationwide.
The weather is expected to change due to the influence of a low-pressure system forming in the western part of the Arabian Sea.
An expert meteorologist was quoted as explaining, "It is the effect of remnants of Cyclone Biparazoe, which developed in the Arabian Sea but weakened after making landfall. As a result, the western regions received rainfall, while the monsoon has not yet arrived."
Even after a week, the monsoon has not spread across the entire country.
"Due to the western low-pressure system, the monsoon could not extend its reach. However, its influence is now weakening. Once the impact of that system subsides, the monsoon will gradually spread across the country," the expert meteorologist was quoted as saying.
The monsoon is expected to establish a favorable environment in the western regions, and it is not anticipated to be significantly delayed in reaching the rest of the country.
Cloudy conditions are forecasted in all seven provinces, with a possibility of a temperature drop in the western Terai area. Even if the heat does not decrease significantly, the temperature is expected to decrease from around 40 degrees to approximately 35 degrees.
This afternoon, some areas of the Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini regions, as well as a few locations in the Koshi, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim regions, may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. During the night, there is a chance of heavy rain in one or two places in the Koshi, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces, as reported by the department.
