Nepal’s iconic instant noodle brand Wai Wai marked a proud moment for the country with its presence at GulfFood Dubai, the world’s largest Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and food exhibition, reinforcing Nepal’s growing footprint in the global food industry.

Manufactured by CG Foods, a subsidiary of CG Corp Global, Wai Wai has evolved from a local favorite into a globally recognized brand. Introduced in Nepal in 1984 by industrialist Binod Chaudhary in partnership with Thailand’s Thai Preserved Food Factory, Wai Wai quickly gained popularity as an affordable, convenient, and ready-to-eat snack. Today, it commands over 50 percent market share in Nepal and enjoys widespread popularity across South Asia.

Over the years, CG Foods expanded its manufacturing operations, with its primary facility in Nawalparasi, now known as CG Industrial Park, along with additional plants across Nepal. International expansion began in 2006 with the establishment of its first overseas noodle production unit in India. The company has since set up manufacturing facilities in Serbia, Bangladesh, and Kazakhstan, enabling Wai Wai to reach consumers in more than 35 countries across five continents.

Wai Wai noodles are now available across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, reflecting the brand’s strong global acceptance. Continuing its innovation journey, CG Foods has also launched a new range of instant cup noodles, further strengthening its product portfolio.

From a quiet market entry in 1984 to becoming a global FMCG success story, Wai Wai’s showcase at GulfFood Dubai highlights how a Nepali brand has successfully taken local taste to the world stage.
