Visit Nepal 2020 Mascot undergoes rapid construction; more than 100 artists working to complete Mystical & Magical Yeti sculpture to promote VNY 2020

Her Excellency The Right Honorable President, Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari unveiled theVNY 2020 mascot “The Mystical & Magical Yeti” during the inauguration of VNY 2020 at Dashrath Rangashala on the 1st of January, 2020.

The Visit Nepal 2020 board has chosen “Yeti” to be their campaign mascot with the objective of making the Yeti synonymous with Nepal, just like Mt. Everest.

To achieve this and to market VNY 2020 both nationally and internationally, Nepali artists are creating 108 unique art Yeti sculptures 7’X6’ in size.

Over 100 Nepali artists are working as one team on this national project to achieve one common goal. The project represents as many diversity, ethnicity, regions, traditions, cultures and background as possible in order to be inclusive and represent Nepal as a whole.

This project and these Yetis are being adopted and financed by Nepalese from all walks of life, businesses- small and large, individual and institutions, hotels and restaurants, travel agents and airlines, banks and financial institutions, international organizations and museums. The Tourism Ministry lead by the honorable Minster of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai, the VNY Secretariat led by Mr. Suraj Vaidya, the Yeti Art Team lead by Mr. Prem Prabhat Gurung, Mrs. Kumudini Gurung Shrestha and Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa and most importantly the adopters of the Yetis is making this project possible.

These Yeti Sculptures when completed with art will be displayed in all public spaces domestically and internationally.
