Vianet apologized to its customers for internet and viaTV disruptions caused by a fire on September 9 at the Central Business Park building, which damaged one of its main data centers. Although backup centers were in place, the sudden loss overwhelmed capacity, leading to service interruptions.

Engineers could not enter immediately due to unsafe conditions, but later risked their safety to recover critical servers and relocate them. Internet services for most customers have since been restored, and full capacity is expected by the end of the day, with viaTV services to follow. Vianet expressed gratitude to customers for their patience and reaffirmed its commitment to building a more resilient network.
