KATHMANDU, Dec 30 :
Employees of United Telecom Limited (UTL) have announced protest programs against the management from Monday, putting forth a 14-point charter of demands.

"As many employees are yet to receive appointment letter, we have asked the management to provide appointment letters to all staff, who have worked for more than 240 days, as per the Labor Act," said Jha.
Similarly, the workers have demanded that the management revise existing HR Manual as per the Labor Act, give promotion to employees based on their academic qualification, service period and competence, and provide overtime pay for employees as per the Labor Act.
"As the management is transferring employees in a haphazard manner, we have also demanded residence and transportation expenses, among others," said Jha.
Other demands placed by the union are transportation and food facility for employers working in night shift, training for capacity development of employees, a room for the union, life insurance package for all workers and study leave for workers.
The union has also urged the management to acquire unified license without further delay.
