Upper Tamakoshi (UPPER) is upto speed and is on its way to be completed by Chaitra this year. As per spokesperson Ganesh Pd. Neupane, "On Asar 1 and Asar 9, it was successfully able to keep the pipe in lower and upper tunnel respectively." He stated that upto now 77.5 meter penstek pipe has been used. As per the plan, the lower tunnel is 372 meter long and upper tunnel is 310 meter long. Due to unreliable performance of Indian company Texmaco, the responsibility to construct lower tunnel was shifted to electromechanical construction manager of Austrian Company Andrease hydro.

Therefore, to complete the project on time, tri-party agreement has been signed between Upper Tamakoshi, Texmaco and Andrease, whereby they decided to handover the responsibility to construct upper tunnel to Texmaco. The estimation of timely completion of the project has been affirmed as the Indian Construction Company has brought additional 20 laborers from Kolkata.

Managing director of NEA Kulman Ghising is surveying the project almost every month. Recently on Shrawan 6, 2076 visit, he found slow pace of work and he complained to executive director of Indian Construction Company G.C. Agrawal to improve it.

The project would have been completed at predetermined time on 2073/074 but the earthquake, Madhesi protest and irresponsible performance of Hydro mechanical Construction had delayed it.
