UML Announces Rs. 1.2 Crore Support for Rasuwa Flood Victims
CPN -UML has announced Rs. 1.2 crore in support for rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the recent floods, landslides and inundation in Rasuwa.
Party Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli made the announcement at a programme held at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, on Monday.
The Bagmati Province Committee and the Kathmandu Valley Special Province Committee each handed over Rs. 10 lakh to Oli, taking the initial contribution to Rs. 20 lakh. Oli said the party would mobilize resources from the central level and raise at least Rs. 1.2 crore for disaster response.
Oli said the party would look at ways to get relief to affected families quickly, rather than simply channeling funds into government accounts, and stressed that assistance needs to reach genuine victims without getting held up in procedure.
He also urged all parties involved to pick up the pace on relief and rehabilitation work in the affected areas.
