Two Samsung phablets lined up for launch

KATHMANDU , JAN 21 -

Two new phablets from Samsung are all set to enter Nepal. International Marketing Services (IMS), the authorised distributor of Samsung mobile devices, will launch the Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy Neo within a month.

The Galaxy Grand 2 if the successor to the Galaxy Grand, while the Galaxy Neo is said to be the successor of the Galaxy Grand Quattro.

While the company plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 by the first week of February, it is yet to announce the launch date for the Grand Neo.

“Encouraged by the success of the Galaxy Grand, we are launching the latest Galaxy Grand 2, which will have added features, upgraded hardware and software,” said Puskal Khatiwada, marketing manager at IMS.

The Grand 2 is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor and runs Android 4.3 Jelly bean operating system. It comes with 5.25-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x1280 pixels.

The phablet features an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera.

As for the memory, the dual-SIM handset comes with 1.5 GB RAM and an 8GB internal storage expandable up to 64 GB via a micro SD card. The 2600 mAh battery offers up to 17 hours of talk time, the company claims.

Some of the preinstalled apps include S translator, S Traveller, Samsung Hub, Samsung Link and Group Play.

The company is yet to price the phablet, but Khatiwada said it will be in the range of Rs 35,000 to Rs 38,000.

As for the Grand Neo, it is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor and runs Android 4.2.2 Jellybean OS.

Other features of the device include 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, dual-SIM functionality, 5-inch screen and 5MP rear and 0.3MP front cameras.

Khatiwada said the Grand New will be priced lower than the Galaxy Grand 2.
