Transport entrepreneurs have given a four-day deadline to clear the Maitighar-Baneshwar route, which has been blocked by the ongoing teachers' protest since April 2, 2025. They warned of launching stronger protests if the disruption is not resolved by Thursday.

Bharat Nepal, General Secretary of the Central Federation of Public Transport Nepal, said that around 4,000 vehicles using the route daily have suffered massive losses, with transport entrepreneurs already bearing damages worth at least Rs. 1.56 billion. Around 12,000 transport workers have also been left without work due to the blockade.

Following talks with Kathmandu's Chief District Officer, transport entrepreneurs have pressed for immediate action, threatening to halt services and push for the enactment of the pending Transport Business Act if their demands are not met. A memorandum submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs highlights how the ongoing roadblock is hurting businesses, workers, and the broader economy, while also damaging Nepal's image both locally and internationally.
