Transaction up, Nepse dips 1.7 points

The number of transaction have gone up by 32 per cent as Nepse index continued its losing streak by going down by 1.7 points -this week– November 27 to December 1.
This week Nepse witnessed 10,350 transactions while the number of transaction last week remained at 7,797. The growing number of transaction also did not help to boost Nepse index.
The benchmark index -Nepse index went down further by 4.85 points on the wake of declining profits of financial institutions.
On Sunday morning the stock market opened at 324.34 points that steadily went down to 322.84 points by the end of the day’s trading.
This week, Nepse’s trading floor observed 888,186 unit shares of 117 companies worth Rs 168.4 million. This is 15.09 per cent growth in the transaction volume in comparison with that of last week.
The sensitive index that measures the Class ‘A’ companies’ performance also went down by 3.23 points reaching 93.54 points at the end of the week. Among the total transactions, the trading of blue chip stocks of class ‘A’ companies consisted of 49.89 per cent amounting to Rs 49.5 million.
This week share trading of blue chip companies covered 61.07 per cent of total transactions. The trading of class ‘A’ companies’ shares amounted to Rs 92.1 million. Sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies went down by 0.43 points to 79.81 points. The float index that measures the performance of actual shares traded also declined by 0.16 points to 25.97 points.
This week, except for commercial banks and hotels all the rest of the subgroups ended up losing few points. Despite, the not much favourable financials for first quarter of the current fiscal year, banking subgroup has earned 4.57 points. Hotels also earned 7.92 points as Soaltee Hotel’s share price went up by Rs 52.
The hydropower subgroup was the biggest loser by losing 17.61 points. Insurance subgroup also went down by 5.44 points. Development banks and finance companies also tanked by 1.08 points and 2.98 points, respectively. There was no price change in the share of Nepal Telecom so that other subgroup remained unmoved.
Chilime Hydropower was forerunner both in terms of transaction amount and number of transactions with trading of shares worth Rs 59.3 million in 3247 transactions. Muktinath Bikas Bank was fore runner in terms of number of shares traded with 78,490 units of shares changing hands.
The top five performers of the week are Chilime Hydropower (Rs 59.38 million), Bank of Kathmandu (Rs 10.21 million), Muktinath Bikas Bank (Rs 8.38 million, Everest Bank (Rs 6.82 million) and Standard Chartered Bank (Rs 5.92 million).
