In a bid to help reduce road accidents and ensure safe and comfortable travel, the Traffic Office has brought into operation the 'Traffic Communications Apps' in Province-2 from Sunday.

The police headquarters, highway security and Traffic Directorate have brought the apps into action to inform whether the driver(s) have been changed in the long-route commuter vehicles.

Hari Bahadur Pal, Province-2 Police Chief and Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, inaugurated the apps amid a programme at the District Police Office in Shambhunath Municipality of Saptari.

DIG Pal said that the road accidents are recurring when the long-route vehicles are being operated relying on a single driver. "From now onward the long-route vehicles should arrange two drivers".

The apps has been developed to find out whether or not two drivers are arranged in the long-route vehicles, he said, adding that it would help book the vehicles breaching the rule.
