Thulo Khola Hydroelectric Project Gears Up for Test Production Starting May 15

The 21.3 MW Thulo Khola Hydroelectric Project, located in Kuinemangle of Raghu Ganga Rural Municipality-8, is preparing to begin test production on May 15. United Energy Limited, the project’s developer, has completed major civil and mechanical works, including the dam, powerhouse, and tunnel.
According to Plant Manager Binod Paudel, the installation and testing of turbines and other equipment are already complete. Final work is underway on an 8-km transmission line to link the project to the national grid.
Built at a cost of Rs. 3.6 billion, the project is funded through a mix of 30% equity from Nepali and non-resident Nepali investors and 70% loans from Nepal Bank, Sunrise Bank, Nabil Bank, and Siddhartha Bank. Sakura Power/Triple S JV handled the civil works, while Toyer Hydro was responsible for the electromechanical setup.
