There Are 30,61,668 Demat Accounts in the Country; Only About 20% of Them Invest in the Secondary Market Actively

NEPSE has unveiled the brokers' client details up to March 04, 2021.
The data shows a huge surge in the number of active investors and users of the online trading system. Data shows that there are a total of 5,94,879 active clients in all the broker offices combined.
Out of all the total 50 licensed broker companies, Naasa Securities Co. Ltd. has the most 31,184 active clients. Meanwhile, Sagarmatha Securities Private Limited has the least 4,020 active clients.
Naasa Securities Co. Ltd. comes first in the number of clients using the online trading platform as of March 04, with 21,185 active online users. Its online client count is 41,902.
All in all, the broker companies seem to have increased their client profile impressively in a short span.
When we look at the overall data, we see that 37.41% of the active clients from all the broker companies use the online platform actively. According to the official website of CDS and Clearing Limited, there are a total of 30,61,668 citizens in Nepal who have a Demat account. If all these investors become active investors one day or another, the volume of participation that we'll see in the secondary market is unimaginable.
