The Coca-Cola Foundation, in partnership with CIUD, WaterAid Nepal, and Godawari Municipality, has successfully completed the Kalitar Sustainable WASH Project in Godawari. The project's main objective is to ensure safe and affordable drinking water for 148 households while promoting improved hygiene practices within the community. The official handover ceremony on February 15, 2024, was presided over by Mr. Bishnuman Maharjan, Chairperson of Ward No. 6, with Mr. Udaya Shumsher Rana, former minister and representative of Lalitpur 1 in the Parliament, as the Chief Guest.
The project addresses key challenges faced by the community after the 2015 earthquake, including drying up of spring sources and negative impacts from unplanned road construction. The Coca-Cola Foundation's efforts not only rebuild infrastructure but also contribute to the community's access to safe water. The foundation plans to expand its project further in the region, aligning with its global mission to provide sustainable access to safe water and support various community development initiatives.
