TECHNICAL GLITCH AND BROKERS SUSPENSION IMPACTS NEPSE

Nepal Stock Exchange today plummeted by 0.42 points to close at 528.86 levels. Due to the technical glitch in the server of the Nepse, the trading in the market got immensely affected today. Apart from it, there were also many brokers who were suspended for not complying with the NEPSE rules and were barred from making any transaction on the market today led to the tremendous impact upon the transaction in the overall secondary market of today. The total amount of turnover came down from the Rs 100 million mark as it stood around Rs 36,602,643 and the number of shares traded also came down by a huge margin as it tallied at 83,788 units which were carried out through 483 transactions.
Among the sub-indices, Insurance sector was the gainer today as it added 13.48 points. The increase in the price of Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) and Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL) mainly pushed the sector up. Whereas, Others sector came down by most points as it suffered the loss of 10.57 points.
While three of the Banking and Financial Institutions sub-indices, i.e. Banking, Development and Finance decreased by 1.34, 0.53 and 1.17 points respectively. Under Banking, among the 24 scrips traded 17 scrips decreased in which Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Prime Commercial Bank Limited (PRIME), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI), Nepal Credit And Com. Bank (NCCB) suffered the loss of more than Rs 7. Likewise in Finance, only three scrips were traded i.e. Citizen Investment Trust (CIT), International Leasing And Fin. Co. ( ILFC) and United Finance Ltd (UFL) , all plummeted by Rs 25, Rs 6 and Rs 2 respectively. As for Hydro sector, it remains intact at 1039.66 levels.
Overall there were only 52 scrips traded among which 17 scrips increased, 6 remain intact and 29 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), closed at Rs 1500, with Rs 70 or 4.90%. Whereas, International Leasing And Fin. Co. (ILFC), closed at Rs 130, was the highest loser with Rs 6 or 4.41%.
In the category of highest share traded, Machhachapuchhre Bank Ltd (MBL), closed at Rs 220, topped with 10,191 units. In terms of highest turnover, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at Rs 1295, topped with 8,462 units worth Rs 10,966,741 via 104 transactions; in which Broker no 22 (Siprabi Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 18.17% stand alone dealing of NBL, tallying, 1,517 units worth Rs 1,992,336 via 12 transactions which includes 3 matching transactions totaling 1,109 units worth Rs 1,458,719.
