An agreement was signed today between Mr. Shree Krishna Nepal from Nepal's Ministry of Finance and Dr. Danielle Meuwly, Swiss Ambassador to Nepal, to launch the Trail-based Tourism Development Project (TTDP) in Koshi province.

The project, funded by both the Swiss and Nepalese governments with a total investment of approximately CHF 10.31 million, aims to enhance local economic development and sustainable tourism by improving culturally and historically significant trails over the next four years.

The project, involving 29 local governments in collaboration with the Koshi Provincial government, plans to build around 400 km of trails, create about 2,000 local jobs, and generate around 500,000 person-days of employment through cash-for-work programs. Upon completion, the trails are expected to draw around 80,000 visitors annually, boosting economic growth and helping preserve local culture and heritage.
