Surkhet–Jumla Road Blocked After Road Collapse at Kalekhola, Kalikot

Transportation along the Surkhet–Jumla section of the Karnali Highway has come to a complete halt after a portion of the road caved in at Kalekhola, Kalikot. The incident occurred last night, leaving the vital roadway entirely closed to vehicular movement.

According to Dipendra Kumar Chaudhary, Chief of the Road Division Office, a team of workers has already been mobilized to the site to carry out restoration work. “We are making every effort to repair the damaged section, but it will take some time before the road is fully operational again,” Chaudhary stated.

Authorities have advised travelers to use alternative routes until repairs are completed, as the affected stretch remains impassable. The Surkhet–Jumla road is a key transportation lifeline for Karnali Province, and its closure has significantly disrupted the movement of goods and passengers in the region.
