Sunway College Launches RAIN Center to Boost Student Innovation and Startups

Sunway College Kathmandu has inaugurated its Research and Incubation Center (RAIN) to foster innovation, research, and entrepreneurship among students. The launch event featured a panel discussion with experts who highlighted key challenges in Nepal’s startup ecosystem, including a lack of mentorship, weak branding strategies, limited data access, and a mindset focused more on jobs than entrepreneurship.

Speakers emphasized the need to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world application, encouraging students to start small, validate ideas, and adapt global practices locally. Financial discipline, proper planning, and strong marketing strategies, such as prioritizing product validation- were also highlighted as essential for startup success. The initiative aims to empower young entrepreneurs and strengthen Nepal’s innovation ecosystem.
