In a recent expansion of the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Balen Shah has appointed two new members to his cabinet. Sudan Gurung has been appointed as the Minister for Home Affairs, while Mahavir Pun has been assigned the portfolio of Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation. Following their appointments, both newly designated ministers officially took their oaths of office today. The swearing-in ceremony was administered by President Ramchandra Paudel.

Home Minister Sudan Gurung is a member of parliament representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), elected from the Gorkha-1 constituency. This appointment marks his return to the leadership of the Home Ministry. He had previously resigned from the same position 48 days ago, on April 22, 2026, following public controversies. Meanwhile, Minister Mahavir Pun serves as an independent member of parliament, having won his seat from the Myagdi constituency.
