Subcommittee to reopen NOC largest depot corruption case

Subcommittee under Public Accounts Committee which has formed to carry out study on Nepal Oil Corporation is all set to reinvestigate irregularities in the country’s largest petroleum depot. Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) staffers had stolen oil from depot and caused a huge loss to the institution in the name of unavoidable technical loss, according to subcommittee coordinator Dhan Raj Gurung.

The subcommittee will try to unearth the reality behind the case and bring all the guilty to book, Gurung claimed.

The subcommittee has decided to summon all the board members of Nepal Oil Corporation to accelerate the action against them, he said, adding that it will direct the corporation to collect Rs 29 million from accused at the earliest.
Similarly, the subcommittee also decided to call the then Chief District Officer of Nawalparasi Govinda Khanal for preparing report of corruption at Daunne Petrol Pump. “Due to reluctant of CDO in preparing the report, CIAA could not take action against Nepal Oil Corporation officials, who were involved in corruption.
