Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd has opened an in-house art gallery on the premises of its Lazimpat branch. British Ambassador to Nepal Andrew James Sparkes inaugurated the gallery amid a ceremony on Wednesday.

According to a bank statement, the gallery would serve as a unique banking lounge which will provide much needed privacy and personalized service for its high networth clients. Speaking at the ceremony, Sparkes said that bank and its unique services to the customers is a symbol of commercial relationship between the UK and Nepal.

Likewise, StanChart CEO Joseph Silvanus said that the art gallery aims to provide a platform for the Nepali artists to showcase their art works. The bank has said that part of the proceeds of sales of the art paintings will go toward funding the Bank´s ´Seeing is Believing´ campaign.

The campaign is the bank´s initiative to tackle avoidable blindness by increasing access to eye care. “Art is the new emerging source of wealth creation and now clients can order works from their favorite artists,” reads the statement.
